About
Ben Wilson is an artist from the North West of England. Working predominantly as a painter, the foundational notes within Wilson’s practice are centred around ideas of comfort, desire and coping. Such emotions are explored through social systems and expectations within the Western World. Juxtaposed thoughts materialise through a depiction of nostalgic, personal and mundane acts. Textural and tonal exaggeration through a contrast in bold figurative marks and sensitive blending of paint then focuses his exploration. Wilson overcomplicates and brings light to sensitivities through embellishment, pattern and texture throughout his practice. With a quality of familiarity and playfulness, Ben Wilson invites and encourages an intellect around big existential ideas of living in a accessible approach.
